Companies with Refugees – MCO Panama

Companies with Refugees is a platform that brings together companies and stakeholders committed to creating employment, educational, and market opportunities for refugees. We are part of a regional movement supported by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the private sector, development actors, governments, and civil society.

¿Qué es la iniciativa?

The UNHCR Multi-Country Office (MCO Panama, for its acronym in English) has an operational focus on five countries (Belize, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Panama), and an area of responsibility covering 22 countries across Central America and the central, eastern, and southern Caribbean.

Companies with Refugees within the MCO was launched in Panama in 2025, inspired by the already well-established platform operating in other countries in the region since 2020. In addition, it was launched in Belize in 2026, with plans to progressively expand to other countries within the Multi-Country Office.

We support companies in creating shared value alongside refugees through concrete actions that strengthen their talent pipeline, social impact, and commitment to inclusion and the collective development of countries.

We share best practices in the workplace

We share successful private sector experiences in refugee inclusion, so they can serve as guidance and inspiration for other organizations.

We provide guidance

Any company or business, regardless of its size, can take part in the integration of refugees. We can support you with guidance and recommendations tailored to your capacities and possibilities.

We inform about the benefits of integration

We promote a space for engagement among private sector actors, sharing initiatives that foster refugee inclusion.

Recent Events

Companies with Refugees Launch Event in Belize

UNHCR, the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) brought together more than 40 leaders from the business sector, government, and civil society in a space for dialogue and collaboration focused on a shared goal: advancing the labor inclusion and socioeconomic integration of refugees in Belize.

Trade Alliance Corporation (TAC): Fashion, Diversity, and Employability

The meeting with INDITEX allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of their recruitment processes, refine potential synergies, and begin mapping pathways that bring refugees closer to real opportunities within brands that connect with thousands of customers in Panama.

Copa Airlines: Connecting Talent with Business Growth

Our meeting with Copa Airlines was an invitation to think big. We discussed actions to enable refugees to learn how to apply for available job openings and to build solid career paths within an industry that is constantly evolving and expanding.

El Machetazo: When Talent Meets Opportunity

During our visit to El Machetazo, we opened a conversation on how diversity transforms teams. We explored areas where refugee talent can bring new perspectives and strengthen the operations of one of the country’s most iconic brands.

Companies with Refugees Launch Event in Panama

The launch of the Companies with Refugees initiative in Panama brought together 35 private sector companies committed to strengthening the labor inclusion of refugees. This event marked a significant step for the country, consolidating a business network willing to promote real opportunities for inclusive employment, training, and development, and positioning Panama as a regional reference in the promotion of inclusive and sustainable work environments.
